Eligible applicants must have a household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI), demonstrate a risk of housing instability or homelessness, and show a qualified financial hardship. Priority is given to households with income below 50% AMI and those who have been unemployed for 90 or more days.
The application itself takes about 15 minutes. Once submitted with all required documents, review typically takes 15–30 business days. You'll receive a reference number to track your status at any time. Incomplete applications may experience longer processing times.
No. This is grant-based assistance funded by the U.S. Treasury. You do not need to repay any funds received through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program. Payments are made directly to your landlord and/or utility providers on your behalf.
Yes. Households may receive up to a combined total of 18 months of assistance, including any months previously received. If you have not reached the maximum, you may submit a new application for additional months of support.
